I was reviewing some of my ‘cool sites’ bookmarks tonight and came across this cool high powered hand held laser site. I was thinking it would be fun to get one. So I did a Google search to see if I could find any at a better price. I found some cool sites, but one in particular stood out. I noticed something I found a bit odd. Considering all the high level science, engineering and manufacturing that must go into a product such as a 125mw + hand held laser, how could something so simple be over looked? Then it occurred to me, they are no rocket scientists.

Notice anything wrong with these pictures?

That’s right! In order to see the on/off cues, you have to look at the output of a high powered laser. Hmm.. seems to me they could have just as easily printed that on the side, where you wouldn’t risk blinding yourself and would probably be more easily visible in the natural handling position also.

    wicked lasers says:

actually, thats just one of the many safety features found on CNI models, sometimes referred to as “tard” features on http://www.lasercommunity.com

The actual on/off is on the side of the casing, there is also a few dangle PS2 connectors that you gotta stick in that thing to make it power on, the on/off at the top is just another safety feature, it doesn’t activate the unit, but allows the beam to exit the laser when activated.
